Bible Study Title: Authority in God

Theme: Understanding and walking in the spiritual authority we have through Jesus Christ.

I. INTRODUCTION :

Most believers don’t struggle with believing God has power—they struggle with believing they have access to it.
This study explores how God has given us authority through Christ and what it means to operate in that authority daily.

II. FOUNDATION SCRIPTURES (NKJV)

  1. Luke 10:19
“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

  2. Matthew 28:18–20
“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples…”

  3. Ephesians 1:19–21
“...the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe... far above all principality and power and might and dominion…”

  4. Romans 8:37
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

  5. 2 Corinthians 10:4–5
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds…”

III. KEY TEACHING POINTS

1. What Is God-Given Authority?

  • It’s delegated power from God.

  • We are not the source—we’re vessels of His power.

  • It functions through faith, obedience, and relationship.

2. The Source of Our Authority

  • Jesus received all authority and commissioned us (Matt. 28).

  • Our authority is legal, spiritual, and kingdom-based—not emotional or circumstantial.

3. Walking in Authority

  • Speak the Word with confidence.

  • Pray boldly, not timidly.

  • Resist the enemy and take dominion in prayer and action.

  • Live in alignment with God's Word—holiness strengthens authority.

4. Misconceptions About Authority

  • Authority is not arrogance.

  • Authority does not mean control—it means spiritual responsibility.

  • Authority is not automatic—it must be exercised.

IV. REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  1. Where in your life have you been living powerless when God has given you authority?

  2. How can you activate your authority this week in prayer or action?

  3. What areas do you need to bring under God’s authority so you can walk in your own?

V. DECLARATION

“I have been given authority by Jesus Christ. I walk in His power, not my own.
I declare that no weapon formed against me shall prosper.
I stand in victory, speak in boldness, and live under heaven’s assignment.”

  • Write down one area of your life where you “will” begin to use your God-given authority—whether it's in your home, your health, your workplace, or spiritual warfare.

  • Pray using the scriptures in this study daily for 7 days.
